What about coconut shells? What about plastic cups?

Shells come in many shapes and sizes. They may have seen coconut shells; plastic cups are not that different from sea urchin "shells". Perhaps they have a sufficently broad concept of the Socratic form "shell" that it includes any small, loose, flat or concave object. Perhaps all they want is something small enough to move and large enough to be useful without giving any thought to what it is.

I suspect they also build shelters in the dark so they probably do it by feel, and we should be comparing taste and texture not physical appearance. Do they equally accept tiles if they're matt side up or shiny side up?

I wonder if they'd use tranparent pieces of glass or plastic?
